Heavyball

“One of the best live bands” – Chris Hawkins (BBC Radio 6)

Heavyball have been bestowed this honour and you need to believe the hype.

With a sound that is a modern interpretation of two tone, mod, rock and ska and influences ranging from Viz to Shane Meadows it’s no surprise that their unique “new tone” sound has been championed by BBC 6 music’s Tom Robinson, Frank Skinner and pretty much everyone in between.

Their recent album, Black Eye Diaries, (Available here) comprises of 10 uplifting songs about death and disappointment! Infectious beats and distinctive melodies disguise the darker undercurrent of their tracks as they deal with topics such as Operation Yewtree, PTSD, war in Afghanistan and suicide in Skegness

Jimmy Somerville has described their cover of “Smalltown Boy as the best he has ever heard”

Heavyball’s appearance at Oxjam Leeds is one of their few UK dates in 2016. Immediately after playing Oxjam Leeds the band head back out on the road to complete their third European tour of the year, playing dates in Germany and the Netherlands. Miss them at Oxjam Leeds and miss out.
