‘Psych rock quartet that fuse enticing vocals with tempting instrumentals’- Vinyl Noise
Formed in Nottingham, Pretty Citizens are a rock band that first bonded over their shared love of 60s rock and roll, Alan Partridge, turtleneck sweaters and a shared home – the idyllic market town of Barnsley.
They originally wanted to emulate the 60s style which sparked that original bond – but, as the songs developed, they began to show more contemporary influences and disparate, experimental elements that created a unique sound that the critics are calling ‘A fitting dose of alternative and psych-rock’
Taking influence from the dense soundscapes and inventive arrangements of bands like The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Portishead and The Verve – combined with the sharp pop melodies of the The Kinks and The Byrds teamed with hints of glam rock, dance music, and a dose of Culture Club for good measure.. What could possibly go wrong??
Seemingly nothing as Pretty Citizens are getting rave reviews, an ever growing fan base and the Oxjam Leeds team could not be happier that they have decided to take a place on our bill.
But don’t just take our word for it, find out more about the Pretty Citizens..
